'Night Moves' was the title track from Bob Segers ninth studio album (and his first with the Sliver Bullet Band) released in the fall of 1976. For the rest of the year and most of 1977, both albums were on the chart. Seger sounds like a man with one last shot at the top. When the Night Moves album entered the chart at 84 on November 13, Live Bullet was hanging around at 159. Night Moves was released in October 1976, with the title track issued as the lead single. Released as a single in December 1976, ‘Night Moves’ reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Seger’s first hit single since ‘Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man’ from 1969. It quickly found a following and outsold every other Seger album. As much of Seger’s Silver Bullet Band had returned home by this point, the song was recorded with several local session musicians. It took him six months to write and was recorded quickly at Nimbus Nine Studios in Toronto, Ontario, with producer Jack Richardson. It was based on Seger’s own teenage love affair he experienced in the early 1960s.
